Palazzo Zimara epitomises refined Italian elegance nestled in the heart of Lecce’s historic centre. This exquisite boutique hotel blends baroque charm with contemporary luxury, offering meticulously restored interiors and 18 beautifully restored rooms and suites. After a genuine welcome, it was off to Suite 7 (an upgrade), this has a serious wow factor featuring exposed stone walls, freestanding bath and delightful views of the cathedral and street below. Standing on the balcony watching the world go by is an experience in itself. We enjoyed both breakfast (a la carte) and dinner in the lovely courtyard of the La Bocca restaurant and enjoyed a drink on the terrace at Radino, the smaller wine bar. Still in its soft opening phase when we visited, I have no doubt that Palazzo Zimara will quickly become the place to stay in Lecce.
